As a website copywriter, I do have a lot of opinions about why you should update your website copy, but I’m not naive to know that you care more about what will happen if you update your website copy and if it’s actually worth your time doing so. So, here are 7 results that you can get from updating your website copy.

Google, AI, and even viewers favor the most relevant, and up-to-date information. If your website includes outdated information about you, your business, or your offers, you’re basically cancelled from even having an opportunity to rank on the 1st page of Google.

Be honest, how many times have you stumbled upon an outdated website and instantly lost trust? It happens all the time. While yes, your website is working for you 24/7, that doesn’t mean you can just let her collect dust over the years without updates! There is new and fresh content being published to Google every single day. If you want to remain the it-girl in your industry, you have to update your copy to stay relevant.

If I was a betting woman, I would bet that your current copy was written for a particular audience that has probably adjusted and evolved since launching your website. This is important to recognize and update because you want to be talking to 1 ideal client. In order to do that, your copy has to be so damn specific to that ideal client’s desires, objections, and goals. If you are not updating your copy (or at least doing a yearly audit), you’re probably missing out on many opportunities to reel in your ideal audience.

Are your packages up-to-date? I’m talking about not only the pricing, but the description, deliverables. To be fair, this is one of the most updated website copy on a website, but I wanted to call it out just in case. I mean, how awkward would it be if you hopped on a disco call and your packages were giving confusion… Not a great first impression.
Listen, I love a good ass testimonial as much as the next copywriter. Truly, testimonials are a strong influence in my own website copy writing process. So, if you have updated testimonials, please add them! This is a great opportunity to showcase your current work, and client experience to future ideal clients.
